As an organization, Friends of the Waterfront is dedicated to sponsoring projects that advance the knowledge and use of Waterfront Park in Louisvile, Kentucky.  As such, we're open to proposals for funding or other assistance to help in outside projects.

Any project submitted should:

1. Be consistent with the mission of the Friends.

2. Relate to the waterfront and/or the river (and, preferably, the Waterfront Park project area).

3. Be legal and ethical.

4. Be consistent with Friend's tax exempt status (for example, no political involvement is permitted).

Not be subject to controversy or put the Friends in a position where they could be criticized for supporting it.

6. Be for the benefit of as many people as possible.

7. Be fiscally responsible.

8. Be sponsored by individuals or groups who are able to provide acceptable references.

9. Provide a "return" to the Friends such as:

• Financial (e.g. portion of proceeds of project or ability to sell items)
• Publicity (e.g. the use of the Friends name and logo on promotional materials or signs)
• Membership Development (e.g. the opportunity to solicit members)

10. Be innovative and interesting.

11. Provide for Friends to be identified as an "Other Insured" party if insurance is applicable.

12. Be fully reviewed by the Friends and approved by its Board if over $250.
