Dogs of the Waterfront: Meet Jenna

Friends of the Waterfront is back with a new installation in our Dogs of the Waterfront blog series. After being inspired by Humans of New York, we’re now featuring different dogs who are often found enjoying Louisville’s Waterfront Park.

Name: Jenna Lyons a.k.a. “Jenna”dogs of the waterfront

Breed: Sprollie, (Springer Spaniel/Border Collie)

Age: 6

Jenna is new to Louisville but she’s loving it already. She is pretty shy around new people, but once she warms up to you she’ll happily give you a high five. Jenna loves rolling around in the grass and she has the best under bite ever.

How long have you been living in Louisville, KY?

I moved here with my mom in July! I’m originally from Austin, TX. The weather is much better here.

What’s your favorite thing to do at Waterfront Park?

I love to chase squirrels. One of these days, I’m going to catch one! I also love going on walks alongside the waterfront with my best friend Bonnie while our moms gossip.

Where else do you like to go in Louisville?

I love Dog Hill in Cherokee Park where I get to go off leash and run as fast as I want to– which is really, really fast. I also like my daily walks around Old Louisville. There are plenty of flowers for me to stop and smell.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I was adopted through Austin Pets Alive!, a nonprofit that has saved over 18,000 animals from euthanasia. Also, I’m named after designer Jenna Lyons. She once called me her “spirit animal.”

What are you looking forward to that is happening at The Waterfront Park?

The Fleur de Flea on Saturday, September 2nd! Our house needs lots of things and I hope my mom gets a new couch for me to nap on. I’d also love to go over the walking bridge– I’ve never been to Indiana!
